Who We Are
In 2012, Robert (Bob) Greene, Ron Browning and other members of the
Havre de Grace Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) saw a need for
a Foundation in Havre de Grace. A Foundation would be independent of
the City and could carry out its own preservation initiatives. HPC
members had become increasingly concerned about the number of old
houses being demolished by neglect. We envisioned a Foundation that
could advise and financially assist owners of these properties in
their efforts to keep them maintained. We also wanted to fund other
projects in Havre de Grace of a historical nature.
Ron browning, Chairman of the HPC formed committee and with his
enthusiastic leadership we got to work. There were many roadblocks
to be overcome but thanks to Ron's relentless efforts, The Historic
Havre de Grace Foundation finally became an official 501(c)( 3)
charitable organization in 2018.
Celebrating the heart and history of Havre de Grace-preserving the past, sharing its stories, and inspiring our community for generations to come.
